T.O.'S Ashley Madison, an infidelity dating service, is pitching its idea for a reality show across the border

CALL IT Desperate Housewives -- the reality show. The people behind Ashley Madison, a Toronto-based infidelity dating service whose slogan is, "When monogamy becomes monotony," are hoping to turn extra-marital affairs into the next hot reality trend.

Darren Morgenstern, the shaggy-haired Don Johnson look-alike who founded the company and who hosts those late-night Ashley Madison infomercials, is boarding a plane this weekend to L.A. where he has meetings with HBO, Showtime, Fox and several other U.S. broadcasters.

The program would explore the reasons behind infidelity and would follow certain Ashley Madison clients as they venture out on "dates" with other like-minded strangers. People on the show would be fully exposed, not hidden in shadows or blurred to protect their identities.

Admittedly, this is the first time I've ever seen these people admit that their "service" is about infidelity. However.

I think there's going to have to be a section of my website devoted to the "sanctity of marriage".

Hello out there we're on the air it's hockey night tonite
Tension grows the whistle blows-& the puck goes down the ice.
The goalie jumps and the players bump and the fans all go insane
Someone roars "Bobby scores!" at the good ole hockey game

Oh the good ole hockey game is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name is the good ole hockey game

Great time at the arena tonight -- not only did I get to see a hockey game, introduce my step-son to hockey, and hear part of the Canadian national anthem, I also got to snicker at the folks who didn't think to wear a jacket to a building whose principle attraction is a 17000 square foot sheet of ice.

Ice, people, it's not just for drinks anymore.

The Oldsmar Sand Sharks were hosting the Spacecoast Hurricanes.

The teams were fairly evenly matched, and while they weren't the best teams I've seen (the home team only gets to practice once a week) I was very impressed by the fact that they're playing a passing style of hockey. I only counted one or two instances of dump and chase. I also saw a few attempts at mid-ice checks, which warmed my heart.

(And BTW, you can dis Mr. Lindros all you want, but there's no-one playing today who executes a more beautiful mid-ice check. Fuck this checking into the board noise -- along with the dump and chase shit, the death of the mid-ice check is one of the lamest things about the current hockey landscape.)

Anyway, they're obviously trying, and being taught well. The head coach of the team is Dave Beaudin, son of Norm Beaudin, who's still playing hockey, over 40 years after he first started playin pro.

This is, I understand, the first year for the league, and currently there are only four teams in it (USA Hockey Southeast Junior), but a few more are expected next season. The bleachers were fairly full, so hopefully there's a future for Jr hockey in Florida.

The next game is Saturday December 11, at 7pm. 5 bucks at the door. If anyone wants to go with us, let me know.
