In the Defense Department Operational Update Briefing posted today, General Sattler, who's in Fallujah, was asked the following question:
And do you have any information about Margaret Hassan's body actually being found inside Fallujah? Prime Minister Howard said she was found in Fallujah. Is that the case?
His response?
GEN. SATTLER I am not aware of any particular bodies that we have found from the enemy side. There are some that we would certainly like to find, some who said they would fight us to the death, and we would -- and if that's their decision, that we would be more justified in accommodating that.
So my questions are these:
1)How does someone who's done humanitarian work for an aid organization for 20 years, a citizen of one of the coalition no less, become "from the enemy side"?
2)When in the hell did it become appropriate to wave your dick around about your right to fight insurgents when asked a question about a murdered hostage *of* those insurgents?
That was an incredibly insensitive answer to a question.
