For any of you currently trying to lure people down to Tampa, a co-worker just put one of his houses on the market. (He'd been renting it but got tired of late/missed payments from the tenants.)
The listing is here: http://awp261524474.mfr.mlxchange.com/?r=1251269707 (click "Click here to view 1 properties")
The house is a 1925 3br/1br bungalow at 210 W North Bay St, which is about as far south of Hillsborough Ave as Bob and Angel are north of it, and it's just a bit west of them.
He's asking $149K.

Date: 2005-03-29 08:05 pm (UTC)I looked at a few houses down there. Some nice ones for sure. The neighborhood is hit or miss by street, but it's mighty close to the little antique mall with the ice cream shop.
Blast. We don't have any ice cream shops close.

Date: 2005-03-29 08:49 pm (UTC)The property value in our current neighborhood is already going up. I saw a house literally a block away from me sell for $170 a month ago and I'm positive it's smaller than our house, and quite a bit more than what we paid.
As far as the neighbrohood, we moved here from Sulphur Springs, so feel like we're practically living on Bayshore. I've had no complaints about the neighbors. There aren't roaming bands of children wandering aimlessly destroying everything in their wake, no domestic calls up and down the street 4 nights a week, no bluegrass band practicing on the front porch across the street, no drug dealers, no prostitutes, no abandoned stolen vehicles in the road regularly ... you get the idea. everyone seems to know each other where I am, and everyone seems to keep an eye out for each other.
Not to mention - who can bitch about a 3 minute drive to downtown and a 4 minute drive to Ybor?

Date: 2005-03-29 08:54 pm (UTC)The whole area North of Downtown is experiencing a real estate boom and good for it. Our house has probably increased in value 20K in the 8 months we've been - and that's without all the work we've done.
