1. Nickname in high school?
Andy. For much of it, I had two best friends, Angela and Nedine. We all had guy's nicks - Can't for the life of me remember what Angela was, but Nedine was Ned.
2. Sport you were into?
Uh... Does AD&D count as a sport?
3. Had a circle of friends?
Yeah, mostly from the Drama Club. On my first day, I met this girl named Heather, who looked about 30, and was no more than 5 feet tall. Her oldest brother was the president of the DC, and she had automatic entry into the clique because of it. She originally brought me along with her, but I ended up making my own place there, and ended up as the president myself by Grade 12.
4. Best subject?
History, specifically Political Science.
5. Worst subject?
Math. I did grade 9 advanced, dropped down to general level in Grade 10, and then I'd finished my obligatory math requirements and stopped taking it.
Of course, had I been forced to take Art, the math may well have been eclipsed.
6. A teacher you owe life lessons to?
All of them, really. The primary lesson I learned in high school was that if you're percieved as "good" -- follow the rules most of the time, and are personable and generally decent to people -- you'll get all the slack you need if you want to cut loose and break some rules.
7. A teacher you wanna kick in the ass?
Mr Taylor, but only because he was the poor sap assigned to teach Grade 12 Advanced English, and therefore The Grapes of Wrath.
To this day, I'm sure the only reason he claimed to like it was because it's really bad form for a teacher to say "yeah, it's a piece of shit, but the curriculum still says you have to learn it".
Describe in one word...
Urg... We didn't have these definitions. First of all, I had five years (well, I finished in 4 and a half) of high school. And we referred to them as Grades 9 through 12 and then OAC for the fifth year.
8. Freshman year:
Budding
9. Sophomore year:
Meh
10. Junior year:
Scattered
11. Senior year:
Busy
11.5 OAC:
Absent
12. Your best friend was?
Which year? There was Heather, Ned and Ange, and Jen. By the last year of high school, I was spending way more social time with people from the SCA than with anyone I was going to school with.
13. Your worst friend was?
Umm probably Heather. Who knew I was crazy about Derek, and deliberately went after him. (We stayed frinds, somehow.) Or maybe Jen, who was flakier than a Blue Ribbon pie at the fall fair. It's hard to say.
14. Cafeteria food sucked?
Not really. The only thing I ate from it was Raisin Bran muffins, and those muffins are still the gold standard by which I judge others.
15. Most hilarious school rule?
::shrugs:: they all pretty much made sense to me.
16. Wore uniforms?
Nope.
17. How was the prom?
Well, it was after I'd left school in February to join the working world to make some university tuition money. So it was a bunch of people I'd known for five years, none of whom I was particularly close to, but still got along with. And me and my boyfriend, who was a guy I worked with at the Pennysaver.
18. Who was prom king and queen?
I don't think there was one. It wasn't a "prom", it was a Senior formal.
19. Any achievements?
I'm still pretty damned proud of the work I did producing our version of It's a Wonderful Life, while I was the head of the drama club, doing four OACs, and working two jobs. (Like I said "busy")
20. Were you popular?
No. But I wasn't unpopular, either.
21. Best song that reminds you of high school?
not really.
22. Unforgettable high school crush?
Derek
23. Most embarrassing moment?
It was one of the most traumatic events of my life. On my 16th birthday, only two people (Ned and some kid named Tim) came to my party, cause Joe was holding his the same night.
Ned suggested going over to the other party, so we did. Wherein Joe told us we couldn't come in.
It sucked. I still have major issues with going places I'm not explicitly invited to, or inviting myself along with people.
24. Memory you'd like to forget about high school?
Ummm wouldn't that be the same question as 23?
25. Best memory?
Watching the cast of It's a Wonderful Life take thier bows on opening night from the front row.
26. Any regrets?
Tough question. Mostly it involves wishing I had the strength of will and willingness to stand up for myself that I only developed much, much later in life. But I didn't, and I needed the experiences in question to help me learn those things.
27. Would you like your "future child" to attend your high school?
Honestly? Yes. It's not possible, though.
28. Were the bathrooms clean?
Yes.
29. How were the lunch ladies?
There.
30. Lyrics would best describe your high school life:
I hate lyrics questions.
I've come to the conclusion that I'm extrodinarily unconnected to music, at least compared to everyone around me.
