Not sure yet. February is what I have in my mind. I'll know better once the Consulate gives me a date for my interview, but that won't come until the week after christmas at best.
"Degrassi" refers to a number of television shows all centered around the kids of a neighbourhood in Toronto. The shows started in the mid-80's and continued into the early 90's.
The first, The Kids of Degrassi Street, followed the kids during elementary school. It was followed by Degrassi Jr. High, and then Degrassi High.
Basically, shows for young people about young people - they tackled teen pregnancy, dynamics between friends, racism, etc, etc, all done in a fairly realistic, down to earth way, with typically Canadian television production values.
One of the most memorable episodes had one of the male characters having wet dreams. He made a call to Sex with Sue, which was a real phone-in sex show in Toronto, oriented to youth, and hosted by a very down to earth, sex-positive woman named Sue Johanson.
Currently, they're making Degrassi: The Next Generation, set in the same neighbourhood and following the classmates of the daughter of Spike, the character from the orginal group who got pregnant early. They've gotten four of the actors from the original back - the parents and one teacher.
So anyway, it made me cry because Caitlin and Joey (2 characters from the original) got back together, 15 years after he cheated on her.
