Well, that was too short by about 50 years.
Ross always flies in to Buffalo - it's not only a much nicer airport to deal with, it's considerably cheaper than flying in to Toronto. I have a cousin who lives in Fort Erie (right over the border from Buffalo), so I went down early on Tuesday and had dinner with my cousin K and her husband R. K's about 4 weeks away from having her first child. It was great to catch up. We had beef on weck at Charlie the Butcher's Kitchen. If you're ever in Buffalo, go.
I'd checked into the hotel and was resting before I went to pick up Ross for his 11:30 arrival, when he called to let me know that he was still in Atlanta, courtesy of the weather and an individual who had to be removed from the plane in Tampa. It'd delayed his flight past the takeoff of the connecting flight, so he didn't get in til almost noon on Wednesday.
After that, it was all wonderful. Some highlights:
- Taking my Grandma up to see her best friend for their birthdays (M's birthday was on Thursday, while Grandma's was on Tuesday).
- Making Thanksgiving dinner with Ross for a dozen friends. I had a fantastic time, and Ross and I discovered that we can cook a huge meal together without even a disagreement.
- A great discussion over lunch on Saturday, and picking out Christmas presents for the kids that afternoon.
- Dinner at Peter's Chun King whee! -- beef candy!
- IKEA on Sunday afternoon, even if we do disagree on a few areas.
- All sorts of mushy stuff ya'll don't want to hear about.
- Meeting his friend A, who's moving up here for a year to work on a film. We had a great day - we ate sushi, and walked through Chinatown. Good times.
Now he's about to land in Tampa, and I'd like him back tomorrow.
