My day Read it and weep. I know I was.

4:30 AM - Wake up after killer weekend. Attempt (only semi-successfully) to go back to sleep.
5:45 AM - Actually wake up, when alarm goes off.
5:46 AM - Stare into space, in a half-asleep state, trying to decide whether or not abuses of previous day have had effect of needing to stay home.
5:50 - Decide to go to work, even though not nearly recovered from Sunday at chip wagon.
5:55 - Place feet on floor, stand up.
5:56 - Get ready for work.
6:25 - Check email, livejournal friends. Frown at error message informing me that
svchost.exe konked out. Completely fail to realize the significance. (This, kiddies, is what's known as foreshadowing.)
6:40 - Leave for work.
7:30 - Arrive at Georgetown GO station. In process of getting train ticket out of wallet, realize that all ready cash, driver's license, health card, and bank card are all missing from said wallet.
7:31 - Wonder furiously where they could be.
7:32 - Realize that all missing items are in the pocket of cargo pants worn to chip wagon.
7:33 - Realize that with no food, no money, and no bank card, will have a difficult time eating lunch.
7:34 - Get on train. Read newspaper. On train, realize that $10USD bill in wallet may be salvation, if co-workers willing to change it.
8:44 - Arrive at Union Station. Transfer to TTC.
9:15 - Arrive at work.
9:15 to 5 pm - Work. Work was actually pretty good. I got complemented on a project I handed in the preliminary designs for, and one of my co-workers was happy to lend me 10, so I was able to eat.
5:00 - Leave work for Union Station.
5:30 - Arrive at Union, get snack and water and MacLean's magazine, and board train.
5:38 - Announcement that track is flooded west of Bramalea station, and the train will be stopping at Bramalea. There may be a bus waiting there to take passengers to Brampton station and Georgetown station, the two stations west of Bramalea. May?!?!?!?!
5:39 - Get off train, intending to take bus at 6:30.
5:39:50 - Announcement that there *will* be a bus available at Bramalea.
5:45 - Train leaves Union station. Read MacLean's magazine, find out all sorts of
interesting things about Paul Martin. We stop, twice, to let empty trains go by on their way back to Toronto. Wonder why empty trains take precedence over trains with living breathing, wanting to get home people. I hate public transportation.
7:00 - Arrive at Bramalea station. It is raining St. Petersburg/Tampa monsoon rain. No umbrella. Get off train, walk to entrance to underground tunnel. Wait for press of people to enter tunnel. Emerge in station. Walk 500-600 meters in monsoon rain, wearing sandles, to bus. Get on bus. Wring out dress. Big puddle.
7:14 - Notice that driver has air conditioning up way too high given that every single one of his passengers is literally soaked to the skin.
7:40 - Arrive at Georgetown station. Trudge to car in lighter rain, mourning death of sandals, coughing from slight congestion in chest.
7:41 - Slide into cab of truck, shivering uncontrollably. Turn on heat to highest setting.
8:30 - Arrive at home. Pour out tale of woe to father. Father will make soup while go to have hot shower. Mother will call husband to let him know.
8:45 - Finish shower, go down and pour out soup. '
8:46 - Go downstairs and try to log on. Realize that button to bring up dialup isn't working. Restart computer.
8:50 - Re-log in, dial-up, download email
9:00 - Get svchost.exe error message again. Realize cut and paste no longer works. Reboot.
9:05 - Discuss issue with Mike. Research issue. Nothing about virus comes up on Google, so assume that something really bad has happened to essential system componant.
9:30 - Attempt to explain to mother that frustration is made worse when she looms over me trying to find out if I know what's wrong yet.
9:45 - Attempt to call husband. Hang up when phone is not answered.
9:55 - Go to bed, not quite in tears.

So that was it. This morning, I got a service update at work with a patch for the virus, and I've sent it home to myself. So far, today has been ok. Cross your fingers for me.
