Today marks an important anniversary. Five years ago today, the Canadian House of Commons passed the Civil Marriage Act, which legalized gay marriage in Canada. The law was enacted on July 20th, so there'll be another opportunity to celebrate in a few short weeks. But for today, I give a hearty Huzzah to the House of Commons of 2005. Thank you for standing up for the equal treatment and affirming the full humanity of all of your citizens, Canada.
