Apparently excercising my "right to a second opinion" is selfish, according to the doctor's wife. "It's really not fair of you to ask this of him".
All because I have access to a group of doctors. Mind you, having acess to a group of doctors makes getting this fixed about as likely as if I was going to a walk-in clinic.
::sighs:: She could have just said no, though. I really didn't need the guilt trip.

And he's my grandmother's doctor.
I suspect that she feels that it's not fair of me to make an appeal to him because he might find it difficult to just say no.
::shrugs::

it is *absolutely* fair to ask
Date: 2003-06-03 01:19 pm (UTC)if you're not going to stand up for the value of that, and ensuring you get the best care you can, then trust me - no-one else is going to do it for you.
as for the "guilt trip"... ::shrug:: we are responsible for our internal feelings. if you don't want a guilt trip, don't accept the ticket to ride on one.

Date: 2003-06-03 01:23 pm (UTC)I was just tired and a bit fried when I was on the phone with her. If I don't hear back, I'll phone again in a day or two.
My suspicion is that she was attempting to get me to retract the request.

the choice, ultimately, is yours.
good luck...
