Busy, long day yesterday, shorter and relaxing day today. Of these things, decent weekends are made.

I taught two classes at Forward Into the Past yesterday; the first was a hands-on bodice fitting class for 1530's Tudor. The second was an introduction to the clothing of that decade and what to do with the bodice toile in order to make clothing with it. The first went well; we had four participants, which is really one more than 2 people can easily handle in 50 minutes. The second one only had 2 of the 4 people taking it; I ended up making extra copies of the class notes for the other two so that they'd at least have the info, and my email address. I was happier with the first one than I was with the second. It suffered from two main factors. Firstly, from doing the class prep last year; it wasn't as organized as I'd like, and I think I didn't really account for people who aren't as quick as I am at picking things up. Secondly, there's really more material than can be reasonably covered in 50 minutes. It may be that there's more material than can reasonably be covered in a 2 hour class, and that trying to fit it into a format like FITP is an exercise in futility, and a workshop at FoOL would be a better option.. OTOH, it gets people in the door who might otherwise be intimidated by the wacky world of Tudor costuming. We'll see. I'll see if there's any feedback from the class before I make a decision about next year.

Last night, I babysat LB for [livejournal.com profile] the_nita and [livejournal.com profile] woodardp. LB was, as always, a delight. (hee! ::insert monster noises here::) Though whenever I go over there, I'm reminded of how much I just Do.Not.Get video games; it's not even how much better at the Wii that he is that's embarrassing; I just totally can't make the thing work, and I don't get why. Ah well.

After I got home from Casa Woodard, [livejournal.com profile] real_jayde phoned to say she was going over to [livejournal.com profile] quicktongue and the Angel's place for an after show gathering. And I looked at the clock (which read midnight) and thought "hey, why not". I had a delightful time, plus there were delicious brownies. Because, hey, brownies! I got home at 2-something, and didn't go to bed til 4:30. Because I am stupid.

Today, I had brunch planned with co-workers at 11am, which i managed to be up for and arrived only a bit late. We started going out on monthly sunday morning brunches a few months back, compelled by my insatiable desire for more people with whom to eat dim sum. We hit Camerons, then King Tin, and this month it was proposed that we should try a Western style breakfast. So we went to Harvest Moon in St. Jacobs. And I was reminded, again, of why I eschew "family-style" Western brunch for the delights of yummy Chinese goodness. But the company was good, even if I was falling asleep at the table. Afterwards, I was originally to visit my mother, but we canceled that and I went home to sleep for another 5 hours.

I also talked on the phone with a couple of friends, including [livejournal.com profile] jascha, with whom I hadn't spoken in far too long. This evening's been similarly low key, involving a book, some whole wheat spaghetti, and a short trip to pick up some groceries. Bed soon; I've got nothing on the calendar in the evenings for Mon-Wed, so I may end up doing some work for Fortress. We'll see.

Later edit: I made a realization while emailing a friend about the class why I was dissatisfied with the second course: although I was more familiar with the information being conveyed, I was less familiar with the structure of
the *class* than I was last year
