Ya'll may know about this, but I just found it, and it's really fascinating.

The Illustrated BMI Categories project.

The blog about it

The pictures

two of my favourites:

Kate is "obese"

I am 1 pound away from overweight according to the BMI and, yet, I have some very clear ab definition. Go figure.

My comment ages ago to my MD when he started harping on BMI to me, "It's a load of hogwash. It ignores muscle mass and bone density. I don't want to hear about it any more."

Kudos to him, he hasn't. He figures, if I am being active, then he isn't going to harp on my weight.

Back when I was quite small I weighed a lot. I have always been on the muscular side and BMIs just don't take that into account.

Ditto that. I'm athletic, curvy and healthy. Even when I've weighed less (poundage wise) ~ I've never been considered "skinny". I just don't have that kind of frame and it's freaking ridiculous that it's expected of me.

I am overweight. By about ten pounds. Yes, the photo in my user icon is fairly accurate.
