Pieces of who I've been
Apr. 25th, 2003 09:58 amOne too many mango lassi last night left me with a bit of a stomach ache at the beginning of the movie. OTOH, the lamb korma was excellent, and the company and discussion even better.
The movies, as one would expect, ranged from completely painful, to painfully derivative, to absolutely fabulous. (We were discussing them afterwards and before the judges came back. There'd been a "man survives in a post-alien invasion world movie, and a horror flick. Jasch mentioned that the horror flick was somewhat derivative. I said "you have a point.. but I hadn't really noticed because its derivativeness was washed away in the flood of derivation in Wasteland")
But! My first choice and my second choice were both in the top three, and my first choice was picked as the (tied) best in show. (The aforementioned Wasteland, which I will admit had killer FX, even if it did start off with the words "I remember what life was like, before the machines came. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if we'd had some warning".)
Jascha's spending most of the summer travelling, and in the fall he'll be moving to CT. I'm going to make arrangements for the two of us to go down to see Bill for a day. Last night, it really felt like a big change coming, with Jasch going off, me moving to Florida, and Bill starting school again in the fall. Last night, and the realization of that change brought a lot of stuff back.
More pieces of me that I'm rediscovering. More pieces that still fit in, at least sometimes.
Sometimes,I dance.
