Yay for dinner on Thursday night with Jascha!
Boo for hurting my finger -- I was playing "how loud a noice can we make with the piano" game with my nephew this morning, and I hit some keys too hard, and seem to have bruised the fingertip of my right hand's ring finger. Stupid finger.
As it turns out, I didn't get to work on either the black wool kirtle-to-be or the gold silk one, since we spent the afternoon chatting, looking through pictures and fabric, and fitting Joanna for a bodice of her very own. Brigit, Eve, Tang has now seen the neckline and the fabric, and has the stolen chemise back. I've got the new one here and I'll be sewing it up this week. Eve, we washed the fabric, and the markings came almost completely out - I'm going to give it another wash after carefully applying some spray'n wash with a toothbrush, and we'll see how it goes.
Other than Joanna needing a bodice, the reason I was involved with the fitting is that Tang and I (and hopefully other D'Courci types) will be teaching a hands-on bodice fitting at FITP. Then I'm teaching a further "so what do you do with that bodice pattern now?" class, in which I'm going to dress someone from the chemise out in both court/noble and merchant fashion. I haven't decided if that person is going to be me or not yet, or if I'm going to coerce another tudor type into dressing in front of total strangers.
Tonight I need to clean up from the last 2 weeks of madcap sewing fun.

Date: 2007-01-16 01:42 am (UTC)Now as for the size of the neckline... if it's too colosally large, feel free to take some out of the pattern. No one will miss an absent duckie or two. I'd suggest altering from the middle instead of having to mess with the corners.
