the reasons not to shop at Wal-mart just keep piling up

So now we add SWB to DWB? A big hearty WTF to that.

I used to drive by this Wal-Mart every day on my way to and from work.

Not that I am a fan of Wal-mart or a hater of Wal-mart, but I suspect this was more the fault of stupid employees than the chain.

Makes me afraid of Florida, though. Or more afraid, I should say. Come home where it is safe and there aren't crazy governors, rampant hurricanes, and racists on every corner.

Yes, your point is taken about the store vs corporate. However, corporate keeps hiring store managers who hire illegal immigrants, lock their employees in the stores, discriminate against black businessmen, etc etc etc and then claim they had no idea when anything become public.

At a certain point, much as with Mr. Martin, the plausible deniability runs out.

Re: Mr. Martin, true enough. But I am still voting Liberal, since the the PTBs were kind enough to force another election on us. Current polls are showing another Liberal minority government anyway.

Pardon me, but as someone who considers herself a rational American Citizen, this comment is an offensive generalization.

Much as the collapse of Martin's government does not signal that all Liberal Canadian politicians are corrupt, neither do the actions of a couple of rednecks, or even Wal-Mart in general, signal the deterioration of the US in general to "haters" and "hated"

Please note that my comment was a query, not a statement. Wondering if it was true, not stating that it was. See the first part of the comment, "I still wonder"

As in, could this possibly be a trend? I don't know if it is or not. What I have noticed is that hate crimes appear to be on the rise. Whether that is because of more active reporting of the crimes or more actual crimes I don't know.

FYI - I am also an American citizen.

While I can't argue with the hurricanes, I assure you there aren't racists on EVERY corner. Not even in Brandon.

Head Office has not said they are disciplining staff, or firing anyone over this.
That to me is showing approval. If they really were upset, and trying to show that this behavior is unacceptable in a Wal-Mart then they would have very vocally fired someone.

Tacit approval, if not explicit. I agree, it is just as bad. I actually find that irresponsible of them, from a shareholder perspective. I would think they would have leapt to distance themselves from something like this. Strange company.

Also, if you're in the states shopping, Dillards has a very well documented history of discriminating against blacs -- lawsuits over such things as blatantly charging black women more for hair services in their salon, etc.
