I keep seeing a billboard for something called Brutal Fruit. So I go look it up:
The American beer market is competitive and tough but SABMiller has already mastered the domain less than two years after buying Miller Brewing Company and turning around the ailing beer brands housed there.
It is now going to launch the naughty but nice Brutal Fruit – a malt beverage in 4 flavours – that will be available in Seattle, Washington; Tampa, Florida; and Richmond, Virginia. These three test sites have been selected on the basis of market research that indicates cost-effective launching pads for the product.
The legal drinking age in the US is an average of 21 years, as opposed to 18 years in South Africa, although in typically complicated US style, this can vary from state to state. The US target market will be female and 24 to 35 years old – the girls just wanna have fun category.
A pure fruit juice (as opposed to fruit flavouring) with a 4,5 % alcohol content, the alcopop will be offered in the four flavours currently available in South Africa: Sultry Strawberry, Kinky Kiwi, Manic Mango and Luscious Litchi.
Hrm. I wonder if the mango one actually has any mango fruit juice in it. I guess I will have to hie me to an establishment selling liquor in order to find out.
I'm also vastly amused that I fall into "the girls just wanna have fun" category.

(leaving aside the question of whether it might be a good drink, or not, I think it interesting that it seems clearly aimed at a very young market...)
