I'm going to go out on a limb and guess this isn't the STC I used to study. STC=Stanniocalcin, a terribly vital protein (you die at embryonic stage if you cannot produce it) that we have no idea what it does, something to do with calcium uptake and storage we think, hence the "calcin" part.
