Mar. 14th, 2005 09:51 amSo, I was at the theatre to see Robots on Friday night, and one of the previews was for the Farrelly brothers directed Drew Barrymore/Jimmy Fallon flick Fever Pitch. The movie is about the conflict between the couple over Fallon's Boston Red Sox obsession.
Turns out it's based (loosely) on Nick Hornby's book of the same name, which was turned into a 1997 movie also called Fever Pitch. Of course, the book and the 1997 movie are actually about a football fan obsessed with Arsenal (and both the book and the 97 screenplay were actually written by Hornby). But we'll leave aside the strange remake-while-changing-the-basic-idea-of-the-story obsession that Hollywood seems to have (I'm looking at *you* Lord of the Flies).
Now, the 97 flick also starred Colin Firth, and thus I have seen it (because I even watched Hope Springs, which went straight to video, because Colin is yummy). I have to ask you -- who in god's name thinks that Jimmy Fallon is in any way, shape, or form a good choice to fill Colin Firth's shoes? Who? And what were they smoking?
Anyway. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Rent a copy of Fever Pitch (97). It's funny. And Colin is yummy.
