Feb. 18th, 2005 11:51 amFollowing the link from the lovely lovecraftienne's journal, I figured I'd participate since this week's altfriday5 touches on a subject near and dear to my heart.
From the
altfriday5:
1. How many hours do you normally sleep at night?
Fewer than I'd like. I generally get about 6.5 on weekdays. And even on weekends, I often get woken up earlier than I'm happy about.
2. Do you wish you had more time to sleep? Or do you wish that you slept less?
I'd like to get more, but my only option for that is going to bed earlier. Unfortunately, I'm by nature a night-owl, and am married to another night-owl.
When I don't have a rigid morning work schedule, I generally sleep for 8-9 hours (assuming my medication levels are right -- if they're not, I can sleep for 14 hours a day).
3. Do you like sleeping?
Yes. I like falling asleep, I like waking up and going back to sleep, I like waking up slowly, I like being in that almost asleep phase. I like sleep. Sleep is good.
4. What is the longest continuous period that you have spent awake? Why did you do it?
I have no idea. I suspect probably back in the days of Hotline when I spent a week editing a document and slept about four hours a day. I've never had a 24 hour period without at least *some* sleep. I'm just not capable of that.
5. If you were offered the chance to eliminate sleep from your life, with absolutely no negative physical or psychological side effects, would you take it? Why or why not? What if this chance was only possible for you, and not for any of your friends or family, or society at large?
Not a chance. Like I said, I like sleep. I enjoy the sensation, and I'm not giving that up for anything.
In fact, I'd like to go to sleep right now.

2. Do you wish you had more time to sleep? Or do you wish that you slept less?
I wish I *needed* less sleep. So that less sleep than I get now would feel like sleping in.
3. Do you like sleeping?
Oh, baby, yeah!
4. What is the longest continuous period that you have spent awake? Why did you do it?
48 hours or so
5. If you were offered the chance to eliminate sleep from your life, with absolutely no negative physical or psychological side effects, would you take it?
No
Why or why not?
I really enjoy sleeping. I might consider eliminating the need, as long as I could still choose to sleep when I wished.
What if this chance was only possible for you, and not for any of your friends or family, or society at large?
