Today was shaping up to be an incredibly frustrating day. When Ross and I dropped by the DMV to get license stuff done, we found out that the place didn't open til 8, when Ross had to be at work.
So after I dropped him off, I went back only to find out that if I did get a license today, it'd only be a temporary one, with no photo. Since I need photo ID for the I-9 form, I kept my Ontario DL, which will do for the I-9. I'll just have to go back later for the Florida DL.
Then, I dropped by the SSA. Still no verification from CIS about my work authorization, hence no SSN. Stupid CIS.
But then, I got home. And got an email from the nice people at CIS to tell me that our I-130 petition was approved, yesterday. Which means, for those of you following along at home, that I can choose to adjust status (which is long and painful here in Tampa) or I can go the foreign consulate route, and make a trip to Montreal sometime in the next six months.
either way, I'll have my immigrant visa (ie Green Card).
Whoot I say. Again, I say whoot!

on another note - if you decide to do the Montreal trip, perhaps we could meet up there, depending on timing?

Montreal is what we're intending to do at this point. The timing will depend entirely on when the consulate decides to give me an appointment, but I'll probably have a few weeks notice, at least. And I'd love to get together. I'm hoping to see Phreeduh and V, and maybe impose on V for crash space.
