Oh yeah. I would be horribly afraid to wear that beautiful dress in the club. Too much of a risk of getting something spilled on it and people do smoke. It's not worth the risk at all.
scotch guard might work for spilled drinks. But I'd still have to get it cleaned because of the smoke. Dry cleaned, which means that the neckline stands a good chance of falling apart. Since we're talking six months of work here (and about 20 hours on the neckline alone), it's just not a good idea.
If it were just the threat of spilled drinks, I'd be ok, because I think that's not overly likely (given that I can't *move* much in the dress, so I'd mostly be sitting and looking decorative in one of the windows).
