Good luck. The Tampa office is a bitch (speaking from experience). Luckily you are just getting your work authorization which doesn't require you to sit and get interviewed by an asshole officer.
Apparently Tampa is a bit under the gun as far as Adjustment of Status applications go... they have a 2 year backlog and have apparently been told to deal with it, post-haste. So they're doing interviewless Adjustments -- collect your documents, send them in, and they'll do an adjudication without you haveing to appear.
But yes, this is just a simple work authorization (made simpler by the fact that it's just an interrim one.)
As for work? There are a couple of priorities:
1st, best job is one doing tech writing, since that's what I do.
2nd, A job that will hire me, with two caveats: - I don't want to work in a convience store (allergy to guns) - I recognize that I'm largely phone phobic, so I can take incoming calls, but not make outgoing ones.
Yes, I know the Tampa office has a severe backlog. Going through immigration junk with them with my ex husband was a nightmare. Luckily you are Canadian and pose no threat so in the end you should have no problems at all. The ex, however, was Moroccan and had issues.
Anyway, I am babbling.....
I am keeping my fingers crossed that you find something good to occupy your time and get you good money in the process!
HAH! So true. But I do know that Adrienne is about as non-threatening as they come. Allowing her to stay in this country will bring up the country's national IQ average at least!
With all due respect to Adrienne, I have begun to suspect that importing a boatload of monkeys would bring up the nation IQ average. Plus, they're ever so cute.
By the way, there's a new computer store in the strip mall at 9th ave n and 58th st (the mall with the chuck'e'cheese). Overpriced, but they have two big parrots (about a foot tall and a light yellow), a cockatiel that the little girls would be *very* happy to let you play with, and a ring-tailed lemur.
This is actually a very straightforward proceedure. The law allows you to get an interrim authorization when they've taken too long on the real one. So the process is generally "in, picture/signature/fingerprint, wait a bit, get card, leave".
But mojo is always appreciated (and if you could send some Ross' way today)

Date: 2004-07-20 05:10 am (UTC)Hey! I'll have you know that there are people who are *terrified* of pissing me off, missy. Terrified.

Which makes me more likely to leave when I can, you realize....
