I am pulling for the Lightning anyway, but you have to think the NHL probably is not. Me falling on the ground would be a larger number on the Richter scale than the rating number for a Tampa Bay/Calgary Finals...and with the league threatening to close for next season becuase of money...
You know, Canadians generally don't riot. People come to Canada and riot. People in Vancouver riot. But it's really not a major social factor.
And as for the NHL and its ratings.. as far as I'm concerned, that's a damned good reason to rig tonight's game to make sure that it's a Lightning/Flames final. The worship of the all-powerful ratings has been responsible for the expansion of the league into areas that aren't really hockey areas. If that turns around and bites the league, and the owners, on the ass, oh well.
Hockey will still be played and watched in Canada and the northern US next year. If people in the expansion areas give it up, then ::shrugs::.
