I got my reciept notice for my EAD.

Which means that, if they haven't issued my employment authorization by then, 90 days after May 12 I can go to Tampa and ask for an Interum EAD.

Yay!

And then I can get a SSN, and be a real person.

yay! The Perilous Paperwork is nearing an end!

(does quick count on the fingers and toes, and matthew's fingers and toes, and his.. never mind)... doesn't 90 days take you to mid-August? will that affect your plans for pennsic at all (or are you stillholding off on that decision till anita makes the call on the block and cooking and LB's camping affinity?)

it's looking less and less like i'll be at war, regardless of the_nita's call on the block, but matthew and i are literally waiting until the last minute to make a call, and we may both pre-reg anyway (if we can afford it), then make a decision later down the line).

i will try and let you know before the may 31 pre-reg deadline which way we're most likely to jump (tom and larisa cancelled for this year, BTW, due to some Real Life Issues that have cropped upand affect their finances for the summer)

I have to figure out the best way to go about getting to the point of working -- once I have my EAD, I have to get a SSN. However, it's set up somewhat oddly. Immigration puts you into the SAVE system (which verifies for the Social Security Administration that you're eligible to work -- apparently the card itself is not enough) once you get your EAD.

However, they may not do it right away. And if you're not in the SAVE system when you first apply for your SSN, it automatically goes to a manual check -- the SSA submits some paperwork to the Immigration people.

And we all know how quickly *that's* going to be resolved. ::rolls eyes:: So it's a balancing act, and Pennsic is just another ball in the air...
