Where "fun" is intended ironically.

So yesterday I took my car to the Fergus D&L office to get it registered. No dice. Because the pieces of paper that I have - the ones that the MTO customer service line told me were all kinds of fine - aren't good enough. I need a Letter of Confirmation from the state of florida stating that, yes virginia, adrienne does actually own the car. The notarized copy of the title (I don't own the car outright, you see, so GMAC has the actual title and won't be giving it up anytime soon) isn't good enough, despite the incredibly stiff penalties that anyone with a notary seal can get for using that seal improperly.

Anyway, I was pretty sure they were just playing a game of CYA. And since all of them are private companies, and Fergus is a little bitty place, I thought I might try my luck in Guelph. Bwa ha ha. Luck. Gah.

No luck there, either. But, then the "fun" got even "better". FWIW, I'm fine.

I went south on Silvercreak to Shoppers, then drove back north up Silvercreek, headed for the office again, because I had a question I'd forgotten to ask. As I was driving past Willow West Mall, heading through the green light at Greengate, some foolish person attempted to t-bone me from the left. I managed to swerve to avoid, going up onto the sidewalk on the northeast corner of the intersection, and thought I was fine. Turns out I grazed the signal light pole, which I only realized when I got out of the car at the D&L office. The bumper needs to be buffed, and the lower part of it needs to be pounded out. I hope. We'll see. So I got to make a police report and everything. I'm not going to go through insurance to get the thing fixed - I don't think there's just that much damage, but I don't want to take chances. Bess' insurance adjuster brain switched on quickly to tell me that soft tissue injuries can take up to 48 hours to show up, so I'm going to watch myself, and if I'm feeling crappy tomorrow, I might not make it out to any NYE stuff.

Whee! See? Fun!

Now I'm waiting for my squash to finish baking before I head off to the Tudor group party across the lake. I didn't plan on the hour and a half it'd take me to wait for the officer and file the report, so I'm running a bit late.
