May. 15th, 2007 10:34 pmI left work at 7pm tonight, towards the tail end of one of the storm's bad bits. I managed to completely destroy my 3.99 IKEA umbrella in the process.. it's actually kind of impressive. Ask and I'll show you.
On my way home (via Michael's and New City Supermarket), many were the downed trees, nearly flooded roads, and non-functioning lights.
At New City Supermarket, I got tasty things and some bamboo steamers to cook them in. Sadly, however, the power was out when I got home. So I hied myself off to Canadian Tire to get a battery powered lantern (and batteries) and saw persephoneplace and friends buying paint, which was a delightful surprise. We chatted a bit about this and that, and the new yoga class they're taking.
Then I headed over to Williams to eat (since I was destined to not have dim sum bits) and check my email. I headed home at about 10, and (just as I was on hold with Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro) at 10:30 the power came back on. Hallelujah!
The evening ended on a really high note. ::bounce bounce bounce:: I found out that one of my most favourite people in the world is in KW right now (and in fact, a tree came down on his parents' house earlier and cut out hydro to *their* neighbourhood), and we're going to have dinner on Thursday night. At Zen Gardens. Whee! ::bounce bounce bounce::
So happy.
