ETA: the members of the group have more or less decided (i.e., everyone who's chimed in has agreed and no-one's dissented) that there'll be a 24 hour waiting period after a request, to make sure that everyone's comforable. So, yeah.. like that.
If you've requested membership today, you should be added tomorrow. Unless we don't know you or you've been horrificly mean to someone in the group in the past.

I've set it up so that it's a private community (i.e. i (or anyone else who wants to help moderate) will have to invite people explicitly), that only members can post to. Posts are, by default, set up so that only members can see them. That can be changed, but I figure it's better to have that default.
As far as I know, the people what spoke up yesterday in much_ado's journal, and who spoke up in mine today are:
cous_cous
joymoose
ms_mary
much_ado
persephoneplace
the_nita
valgarth
These people have been sent explicit invites. If there's anyone I'm missing, let me know. After the initial population of the group, it's going to require a sponser and agreement of the rest of the group to join. It looks like you'll need to access the invite at http://www.livejournal.com/manage/invites.bml
The description, which is definitely up for discussion:
"A group of friends, mostly based in Ontario (the province), who've banded together in the pursuit of a healthier and happier lifestyle.
This lifestyle is defined by more movement, less crappy food, a moderate amount of good food, IKEA, and (apparently) shoes.
It may or may not include cabana boys.
This is a closed community; a few of us have started it, and new members will need to be both proposed by an existing member, and vetted by the rest of the existing members.
Posting of successes is encouraged. Posting of numbers (your current weight and measurements, for example), while not discouraged, is neither required nor asked for. "
