Sep. 29th, 2006 09:18 amIn a story in yesterday's St. Pete Times about Tampa Bay's "loss" of the 2008 GOP convention to St. Paul-Minneapolis, was the following nugget of fool's gold (emphasis mine):
The area's hurricane potential, they said, wasn't a good enough reason to go elsewhere.
"We will not accept the fact there is a hurricane problem," Catoe said.
Tampa City Council member Mary Alvarez said it was a poor excuse for not picking her hometown.
"We certainly would have made an effort to try and prevent hurricanes from coming," she said.
Perhaps by detonating a nuclear bomb in the middle of the approaching storm?. (That thread post title, btw, was a quote from the story, which is no longer on CNN's site.)
