Universities are such great places. If you can avoid the students.

Last night was our Friday night Tudor class. It's held in the Student Center at the University of Guelph. We start around 7 or 7:30, and usually end up finishing between 10 and 11.

Last night we ran a little late -- not unusual, since we all like each other, and we're having a blast. So it was past 11 when we finished up.

Because a couple of us were parked far away, we all put our stuff down at the entrance to the Student center, E and B stayed with it and E's bf J and I went to get our respective cars. When I came back, B went to get her car, and that left E alone with all the stuff.

Note to self: Friday nights in the UoG SC are filled, not only with students, but with students who've been drinking. While I was putting my project supplies in the car, some punks came over and started bothering E, and one of them picked up my sewing machine and made as if to toss it to another one.

Note that I did *not* pick up a rock and bean the little jerk on the back of the head, if only because he might have dropped my sewing maching. Keep in mind that I adore my machine -- it's a Phaff, which is a really good brand, and I've had it for 5 years or so, which is long enough that we have a relationship, it and I.

I took it away, and said "It's a sewing machine. They make clothes." Little mouthy friend of the one who picked it up looks at me and says "I think you should sell it and get braces."

You know what's most annoying about the whole thing? I got turned down by Guelph 11 years ago, and yet they let mouth-breathers like *that* in?

::sighs:: I will *not* become old. I will *not* shake my head and say "kids today". Instead, *next* time, I'll pick up the damned rock, and trust E to catch the machine on the way down.
