ADIT photos and photocopies, oh my!
Jan. 30th, 2003 12:55 amMy adventures in US Immigration-land (which is a completely different reality than you and I inhabit, Virginia) continued today, with less frustrating results than was the case yesterday.
I went down to the second photographer today. You'll recall that he was familiar with the type of photos that I need, and that my parents knew him. He took a lot more time setting up, used film rather than digital, and changed my pose. So in general I had a much better feeling about things before I actually saw the photos. And I wasn't disappointed once I did. They're not the best photos of me I've ever seen, but they do fit the specification, and that's what's important.
However, I didn't finish up there until too late to do the copying at the copy shop in Guelph. So I came home, ate, and borrowed my grandma's car to scoot over to Kinko's, my 24 hour friend. A very helpful man named James made my life much easier, and an hour and a bit later, I'd duplicated the binder. Now I just need stickers.
Have I mentioned the binder? I suspect most people who know me would be a little bit shocked at the massive organization that's gone into it. Most of my organizing happens entirely between my ears. Very little is usually apparent in the physical world, and I think most people could be forgiven for not really believing that it exists at all.
But not for this. For this, I have a highly organized physical object, with tabs, and page protectors with stickers labelling the content, and at some point it'll have indices, too. Like I said to my grandmother - if they want me to jump through 16 hoops, with the 3rd, 8th, 11th, and 14th being backwards, and the final one finished with a triple somersault, then I'll do it.
He's worth it.
