Blah

Work was ok. Been in the house (with tiny little breaks to visit Fergus) for far too long now. No movie tonight because the roads aren't really good enough for pleasure trips. Winter sucks. I hate the truck - there's a 89 5-speed Civic for $800 in the paper, but I don't know if it's a good idea. Whether it's a want or a need. Question is whether the money I'd save not driving the truck would make up for the price of the car. Bit of a stomach-ache from stress.

Stagnating, more than anything. Not enough outside stimulus. Not where I want to be, not doing what I want to be doing.

But..... tomorrow is a potluck dinner at Karen's place for the group I camped with (hopefully will camp with again) at Pennsic. Monday I'm in Toronto. Wednesday and Thursday to Toronto again, with Wednesday night spent at Joel's place. He says we'll go out for dinner and drinks - hopefully with some other people. I could use a night at the Duke.

And then Thursday night.

Eddie Dickens

Finished the first book in the trilogy. It's in the same vein as A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett. (Bad things happening to mostly good children, with a highly developed sense of the ridiculous.) I hadn't finished the first book in the Snickett, but I decided to take a chance on Eddie.

I'm glad I did. It's not quite as relentless as Unfortunate Events and is a good deal funnier. It's frothy, and fun, and I read it in the half hour it took my mechanic to take off the gravel guard from the truck.

When I finally get out of the house, I think I'll pick up the other two books in the series.

I think I've learned nothing in the last three years.
