Have I mentioned that I really like my doctor? I went in fearing an attack of appendicitis, and came out with muscle spasms caused by a UTI, some sample one-a-day Cipros, and a muscle relaxant.

I'd been having general low-level abdominal pain for about five days, but none of the burning. So I was shocked as hell when he came in after checking on the urine sample and told me that I had a fairly bad UTI.

At any rate, it also allowed me to pick up some forms for Advanced Directives for Ross and I, and to make an appointment for my annual physical. Whee!

Now I'm off to drink water till it comes out my ears.

Well, at least it isn't appendicitis!

Drink cranberry juice instead of water, there's natural antibiotics in there that will help with the healing. Eat some non-sweetened yoghurt to keep your natural yeasts in check to prevent thrush or a yeast infection from the antibiotics.

I know it sounds crazy to be eating food to control your inner beasties when the Dr has prescribed something chemical, but it usually helps, and it can't hurt. Mum was a nurse and I've found I can usually fix most of these things easier (or in such a way that it doesn't come back) with diet than with drugs.

yep, those nasty UTI's don't always show the typical symptoms. i get checked every single time i go to the dr. (even today) just in case since half the time i have one and don't know it.

Ugh and blargh ~ but atleast it was something that can be handled pretty quickly...even if it is annoying.

You most likely had an upper UTI. I had no idea there was an upper or lower option. I had one and it made me horribly sick. It took a little longer to go away then normal. Of course, I was pregnant so that had some effect also. (that is how I found out.) Feel better.
