How long do you have to worry about contaminating everything?
They gave my ex a radioactive pill for thyroid cancer. The guy came in with a big lead box, put on lead-lined gloves, and took out a little lead-lined box, in which was a single $10,000 (american) pill.
Worked perfectly. Her cancer indicators have been perfectly fine for years now.
I know I'll be drinking the RAI, so it won't be a pill. Of course, since it's Canada, I have no idea what the dollar value of the RAI I'll be drinking is. Gotta love socialized medicine. :)
Basically, they'll tell me on Friday, once they figure out my dose, how long it'll be for various things, based on me and my dose. However, the half-life of the stuff is only 7 days.
I'm a lot more confident now than I was when I walked in there this morning. I was a complete bundle of nerves, but they were very cool about answering questions, as much as they could.
Right now, I'm not really radioactive, since they gave me about 7 microdrams, (yes, micro_d_rams) It honestly looked like what's left in the bottom of a glass when you drain your wine glass, there was that little of it.
Thanks for asking. She is doing ok. They want her to go through three days without either her heart or lungs stopping. She has gone two days, then boom, we have to wait again. We hope she will be home in the next day or so. Pee Wee is doing well. She is accepting us not spending as much time with her. But, of course, Sarah isn't even home yet.
Paige just passed a kidney stone. We didn't know what it was, so another day in the hospital with another IV. Heh.
